#MeetTheTeacherAtSEEC | Meet the educator who patiently celebrates every small step of a child’s journey at Special Em’s

In special education, some milestones may seem small – a steadier step, a child completing a task independently for the first time, or the confidence to try something new. Yet these moments form the foundation for a lifelong journey of growth and development.
With over five years of experience in special education, Mr. Thai Quoc Kien is an Intervention Teacher at Special Em’s, supporting children aged 2 to 8 through individualized intervention and movement therapy programs.

Trained in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Movement Therapy for Children with Special Rights, and evidence-based intervention techniques including DTT, NET, Prompting, Data Collection, and Behavior Intervention, Mr. Kien designs individualized intervention plans tailored to each child’s unique needs. His professional strength lies in integrating motor development with cognitive and behavioral goals, enabling children not only to improve their physical abilities but also to participate more confidently and independently in learning and everyday activities.
For Mr. Kien, the most important principle in working with children is respecting each child and providing support through partnership rather than doing things for them. Every child develops at their own pace and deserves the opportunity to discover and build on their own abilities.

One of the most meaningful moments in Mr. Kien’s career was supporting a child who initially struggled to climb a staircase. Through an individualized movement intervention program tailored to the child’s abilities and goals, the child gradually developed better balance, coordination, and confidence, eventually climbing the stairs independently. For Mr. Kien, this achievement reflects the power of structured, consistent, and personalized intervention in creating meaningful progress.
At Special Em’s, Mr. Kien brings together individualized intervention and movement therapy to help children strengthen their motor, cognitive, and adaptive skills while becoming more engaged in learning and daily life. Guided by creativity, patience, dedication, and strong professional expertise, he is committed to creating lasting, meaningful progress that empowers every child to reach their fullest potential.
