#MeetTheTeacherAtSEEC | Meet the educator who chooses gentleness to walk alongside every child at Special Em’s

Throughout a child’s journey, some changes may seem very small at first: a child initiating communication, mastering a skill after many rounds of practice, or simply having a day when they are more engaged and happier than the day before. Yet for those working in special education, every step forward carries its own meaning, because behind each one lies a child’s effort, a family’s perseverance, and a teacher’s unwavering support.
To accompany children on this journey, a teacher needs more than professional knowledge. Patience, understanding, and respect for each child’s individual pace of development are equally important. Every child learns differently, and sometimes what matters is not how quickly a child progresses, but how they are gradually moving forward in their own way.
With more than five years of experience in Special Education and Social Work, Ms. Van Ngoc Chau Long is currently an Individual Intervention Teacher at Special Em’s Education Center (SEEC). She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from HCMC University of Education in 2021 and holds a Certificate in Inclusive Education Teaching Skills.

For Ms. Long, the three most important qualities when accompanying children are patience, understanding, and respect. She believes that every child develops at their own pace, and that adults need to give children enough time to learn, try, make mistakes, and progress according to their abilities. Rather than focusing solely on what a child cannot yet do, she pays close attention to every small change and sees each one as a foundation for further growth.
At Special Em’s, Ms. Long continues to draw on her experience in individual intervention, working closely with children and collaborating with their families to support their development. She values the friendly and supportive environment among her colleagues, and especially appreciates the positive energy from Ms. Dung Vu, Programme Director of at Special Em’s, who continually inspires the team to stay passionate about their work and grow professionally.
