#MeetTheTeacherAtSEEC | Meet the educator who combines technology and expertise to expand learning opportunities for children at Special Em’s

In Special Education, an effective intervention program should be tailored to each child’s individual needs, while maintaining consistency and providing plenty of opportunities to practice skills in real-life settings.

With 4 years of experience in Special Education, Ms. Thom Nguyen is currently an Individual Intervention Teacher at Special Em’s Education Center (SEEC), supporting children aged 2–6 with developmental support needs. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and has been trained in and applies approaches and strategies including ABLLS, IBT, ABC, PRT, DTT, NET, and PROMPT in her intervention practice.

Ms. Thom focuses on building children’s skills step by step while maintaining consistency in intervention goals and approaches. In particular, she carefully observes and seeks to understand the underlying causes of children’s behaviors rather than viewing them in isolation, allowing her to select appropriate support strategies based on each child’s needs.

Alongside direct intervention, she values close collaboration between teachers, families, and learning environments. Consistent support across settings gives children more opportunities to practice and transfer the skills developed during intervention sessions into their everyday learning and activities.

At Special Em’s, Ms. Thom continues to develop her expertise in individual intervention and is also interested in applying AI and assistive technology in Special Education, with the goal of expanding the tools available to support teachers and create more learning and development opportunities for children.

Guided by the values of Discipline – Creativity – Positivity, Ms. Thơm and the Special Em’s team strive to build strong foundations that empower every child to learn, develop, and participate more actively in everyday life.
