#MeetTheTeacherAtSEEC | Meet the educator who believes in consistent support for every child’s progress at Special Em’s

Every child with special educational needs has their own strengths, needs, and ways of learning. Effective intervention therefore begins with observing and understanding how each child learns, then choosing an approach that best suits them. This is also how Ms. Dau Nguyen Thien Huong approaches education and intervention at Special Em’s Education Center (SEEC).

A graduate of Therapeutic Psychology from Hoa Sen University, Ms. Huong is currently a Special Education Teacher at SEEC Go Vap, where she works with children through individual intervention and group activities. She has experience supporting children with autism spectrum disorder, delayed speech and language, as well as communication and behavioral difficulties, particularly children aged 2–5.

Professionally, Ms. Huong has been trained in and applies ABA, CBT, NET, DTT, and Prompting, with a particular focus on using ABA to support learning and communication development. She designs goals based on each child’s strengths, needs, and learning abilities rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.

In her work, Ms. Huong believes in understanding and listening to a child before expecting them to change. She believes that behaviors often described as “lazy” or “stubborn” may sometimes come from a child’s difficulty expressing their needs or understanding what adults are asking of them.

For parents, she encourages focusing on a child’s own progress rather than comparing them with others. Breaking goals into smaller steps, creating opportunities for practice, and giving children enough time to adapt can make the learning process more appropriate and effective. Every step forward, no matter how small, can become the foundation for developing new skills.

At SEEC Gò Vấp, Ms. Huong continues to apply her expertise in individual intervention and group activities while maintaining a strong commitment to learning and professional exchange with her colleagues. With patience, calmness, and attention to detail, she strives to develop individualized support programs that help children gradually build skills, strengthen communication, and participate more actively in the world around them.
